Bagabaga College of Education Holds 2025/2026 Macro Teaching Orientation for Final-Year Students

Bagabaga College of Education has successfully organized a comprehensive orientation programme for all final-year students ahead of their 2025/2026 macro teaching exercise. The four-day event, held from 3rd to 6th November 2025 at the College Auditorium, was designed to equip student-teachers with the essential knowledge, skills, and professional values required for effective teaching practice in partner schools.

In his opening address, the Principal underscored the significance of macro teaching as a transformative phase where trainees move from micro teaching to full classroom engagement. He noted that the orientation would help shape the professional identity of student-teachers as they transition into real school environments.

The Teaching Practice Coordinator, supported by lecturers from the Education Department, facilitated presentations on key areas such as:

  • Understanding Macro Teaching
  • Lesson Planning and Scheme of Work Preparation
  • Community Entry and Relationship Building
  • Professional Conduct and Discipline
  • Assessment and Evaluation Procedures

The interactive session allowed trainees to ask questions on supervision, reporting, classroom management, and community engagement.

A major highlight of the programme was the emphasis on community entry, where trainees were guided on how to properly introduce themselves to host schools, respect local customs, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and uphold the image of the College in their assigned communities.

The orientation also reinforced strict discipline expectations, reminding student-teachers to demonstrate punctuality, decent dressing, honesty, courtesy, and adherence to Ghana Education Service (GES) professional standards. Participants were encouraged to maintain professionalism at all times as ambassadors of Bagabaga College of Education.

By the end of the training, student-teachers had gained a clearer understanding of macro teaching procedures, lesson delivery expectations, community engagement principles, and the importance of reflective practice. The orientation aimed to ensure that trainees enter schools confident, prepared, and inspired to be positive role models.

The College commended the active participation of students and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them throughout the teaching practice period. The successful event sets the tone for a productive and impactful macro teaching experience in the 2025/2026 academic year.
