Level 300 Visual Arts Students Add Beauty to the College’s Architecture

As part of their Mid-Semester examinations in Studio Practice in Graphic Design, the Level 300 Visual Arts students of Bagabaga College of Education undertook a practical project that added both color and meaning to the campus environment. The students successfully painted two large wall murals on the premises of the Vocational and Technical (VOTEC) Department.

The course, which is tailored for Embedded Teaching in Visual Arts, is designed to help student-teachers consolidate their competencies in studio practice, creativity, and artistic appreciation. It provides them with opportunities to translate theoretical knowledge into hands-on artistic expression, while also encouraging teamwork and innovation.

A total of 18 students participated in the exercise. They were divided into two groups of nine members each, with every group tasked to design and execute one mural. The completed artworks vividly represent the various disciplines within the department; Visual Arts, Technical, Home Economics, and Agriculture thereby reflecting the Department’s mission of “Creating Futures and Building Careers.”

The entire project was carried out under the close supervision of the course lecturer, Mr. Macharious Nabang, who guided the students in planning, execution, and finishing of the murals. The exercise not only enhanced students’ technical skills but also left behind a lasting artistic legacy that will continue to inspire future cohorts.
